Indonesia-APCTP Workshop on

Quantum Computing and Simulation

Welcome to our workshop page! 😃

The Indonesia-APCTP workshop on Quantum Computing and Simulation 2023 was held on December 6-8 (Wed-Fri)!

💡 Introduction

Quantum computing is an emerging branch of science and technology that promises major scientific and industrial breakthroughs. This includes solving complex problems whose solution lies beyond the contemporary and even future supercomputers based on conventional technologies. Quantum computing is also poised to make a significant economic impact. Various industries (automotive, chemicals, financial services, and life sciences) are predicted to benefit from this technology in the future.

We realize that embracing quantum computing research could position ourselves at the forefront of this technological revolution. However, Indonesia has just started to engage in research on quantum computing and simulation. As the main research agency in Indonesia, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) through the BRIN Research Center for Quantum Physics has been actively promoting quantum computing to the public and researchers in Indonesia since its establishment in 2022.

To raise awareness of quantum computation technology, BRIN collaborates with the Department of Physics, University of Indonesia (UI), and the Asia Pacific Center for Theoretical Physics (APCTP) to hold the “Indonesia-APCTP Workshop on Quantum Computing and Simulation” on December 6-8, 2023. The purpose of this workshop is to explore the topics and discuss the necessary steps that are required to embrace quantum-computing research. We hold this workshop as one of the steps to building local expertise and a talent pipeline by encouraging students and young researchers to pursue quantum science and technology.

This workshop is jointly funded by BRIN, UI, and APCTP. Since 2023, Indonesia has become one of 18 member countries of APCTP through BRIN and UI. The event is also supported by PCS-IBS as an event of the ICTP Asian Network. We are grateful to SpinQ Technology for their generosity in bringing a portable quantum computer sample to Indonesia and being part of this workshop.

📍 Venue

Graha Widya Bhakti Building | Room 1002,
B.J. Habibie Science and Technology Park Serpong,
National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN),
Jl. Raya Serpong-Puspiptek 60, Setu,
South Tangerang City 15314, Indonesia.
You can check the location from Google Maps.

Note: Previously, we planned to hold the event in the main auditorium of building 720. However, to provide better service to the participants, on Nov. 30, 2023, we decided to change the venue to Room 1002 of Graha Widya Bhakti Building, which is still in the complex of B.J. Habibie Science and Technology Park Serpong.
